was almost cancelled due to torrential rain, but we managed to pull it together in the late afternoon. Our fair weather family did not want to participate, so we gathered as many neighbor kids as were home to help us in our pyromania. This group was just the beginning of our crowd...

If you remember, John Adams wrote to his wife, Abigail, that July 2 would be marked with a whole lot of pomp, and so pomp we did. We celebrated our nations declaration of independence against a tyrannical king with as many fireworks as we could afford, and all the cookies and popsicles we could shovel into our faces, and had a great time doing it too!

This post could alternately be titled: What we do when the resident firefighter is no where in sight. On a different note, no burns were sustained during this years celebration. When compared to last years, this is quite an achievement.

Next year we have decided to take John Adams day up a notch and possibly serve hot dogs, chips, and dessert. Do you want to come?
