Mother's Day Report

We hope that everyone had a fantastic Mother's Day.  Mine was made quite special by my wonderful husband and three cherubic children.  I was awakened early to the smell of a pancake breakfast in bed and some very excited, present bearing children.  We opted to open presents first and I was very delighted with what I received.  Jake made me a refrigerator magnet with his school picture on it and wrote me a very special card in which he called me "pretty" and said he loved my "cises" which we all know means kisses.  I love his kisses too, even though sometimes there is an excess.  Torey presented me with an amazing recipe card holder which she painted all by herself (looks like a flower), which we promptly used to hold the baked bean recipe, a recipe for brownies, and a bookmark with a poem she wrote for me as well.  The bookmark is now residing in my book and is very useful and the poem was very sweet.  Taylor also wrote me a poem but it is residing in a bottle of hand soap, which smells like peaches, and painted me a lovely watercolor card.  All of their notes were so sweet and their excitement to give them to me was so special, it made me cry.  I have decided these little presents and notes mean more than any store bought gift ever could.

I just wanted to thank all of the women in my life.  First, my mom, who did a great job raising me!  She always bent over backwards to make things special for us.  She has oodles of talent and a fun personality.  She taught us how to be good wives by showing us how to cook and clean, but also extended our horizons by teaching us to hunt, fish, camp, etc., etc.  There is nothing that she won't try and she instilled in us a "can do" attitude along with endless love.  My mother-in-law did a fantastic job in raising my husband.  He is a tribute to her and all of her goodness.  I am so lucky to have her.  When all of my friends start complaining about their mother-in-laws I just sit and think how lucky I am.  To all of my Grandma's a hearty Thank You.  They brought a different dimension to mothering and were great examples to me throughout my life.  I am so blessed that I have got to enjoy them for this long.

Anyway, happy belated Mother's day to all of you.
