Thankful Thursday..

So it's time for another episode of things I am thankful for.  Some may be ordinary, others extraordinary, and some just plain dumb but nonetheless they will be posted.
1.  I am so thankful that my rhubarb survived the winter.  I love rhubarb.  I love it boiled, I love it in a pie, and I love it in ice cream (I think).  I'm not for sure that I have ever had it in ice cream but I bet it would be good.  I do not love it, however, when I take an uncooked chunk and shove it in my mouth and it makes me pucker so tight my nose flips inside out and I have to spend the rest of the day with that bitter aftertaste in my mouth.  Just a side note, did you know that you can bottle rhubarb?  Well, you can, and I will.  Because I love it that's why.  And also because I am in the midst of a food storage panic attack and it would help ease that stress, thank you very much.
2.  I am thankful for a husband who, when I am in the midst of my food storage panic attack, will get in the truck with me, drive to Macey's and pay exorbitant amounts of money for rice of all things.  And then, because he loves me so much and wants to calm me down throws in a couple of bags of flour.  I love him, and he for some unknown reason returns that love.  I am a lucky girl.
3.  I am grateful that we finally got the garden planted.  (Again with the food storage).  Just looking out at that freshly tilled earth eases my heart and calms my tummy.  We will be enjoying tomatoes, peppers, onions, beans, corn, carrots, peas (fingers crossed), cucumbers, and rhubarb and it is all because my dad lent us his tiller.  Thanks Dad!  Sending you hugs and kisses via blog!
4.  I am thankful that school is almost out.  I can't wait to get my kids back and have them all to myself.  I say this now, but in a couple of weeks I will probably be posting the opposite!
5.  I am so thankful that Taylor finally got a great hit and did not get out.  She has been in a bit of a hitting slump and this was just the thing to get her out of it.  I am also very glad that when she was sliding into home and the catcher/giant sat on her that she didn't break her femur.  It was touch and go for a second but all's well that ends well.  I am also glad that with three kids in ball we have not had to stretch ourselves too thin.  A little thin, but not too thin.
6.  I am thankful that my great friend lent me THE HOST.  It was a delight to read and I am glad that my husband left me alone for the twelve hours it took and didn't get mad when I ignored everything else.  Sometimes you just need some reading time and I took it.
7.  Loving my new pillow and apparently Reed's too, as he claims I tried to take it from him in the night.  This is all I'm saying,  you can't be gone most nights, and then after I re-establish my sleeping habits, be petty about pillow thievery.  It's mine at least 33.3% of the time and I need it to sleep well.  Some people just need to learn to share, you know, play nice in the sand box and all that stuff.
8.  I love the fact that when Reed reveals his very long pet-peeve list, and I violate every one, that he still finds it in his heart to forgive me and sometimes even laugh.  Everyday.  At least twice.  It's a long list.  No one could avoid that list.  Garbage sacks, garbage stacking, cross threading, drooling, general messiness, not clearing a path, bleach in pools, etc., etc.  I could go on and on and these are the minor ones.  I won't even talk about shoveling habits and working together except to say I won't talk about it.
9.  I can't believe I am saying it but I am grateful for all of the rain.  We need it.  I mean I know it is May and it is still snowing and raining and cold and we need to play baseball in it, but I am grateful just the same.
10.  All of you!

I'm glad you planted a garden; now I can have some fresh veggies.teehee. It is nice to have a husband that loves us for who we are, cuz we are kind of a handful.

I like reading your Thankful Thursdays! I agree about the pillow, that pillow is almost more yours than his. Stingy. Also, I love home grown garden tomatoes. Just thought I'd throw that in. And.. Niki, what's this "we're a handful" stuff!? pshaw.
