A Philosophical Moment....

Thoreau wrote "I wish to live deliberately."  What does that mean?!?!  I have been rolling that one around in my head all day.  I am thinking he means to do everything as if it were done on purpose.  So, what things exactly? I get up in the morning and I "deliberately" put in a load of wash.  I know, you are all thinking  "Oooh, the excitement!"  Sometimes I deliberately avoid doing the wash.  Let's be honest - it's more than sometimes.  So how can we (especially those of us stuck at home with kids all day- I am having a bitter housewife moment so roll with it) live life "deliberately?"  It sounds like a great way to live, so I am wondering how to go about it.  It seems when you are stuck smack in the middle of mundane, things don't seem all that purposeful.  Can you all tell I am probably either in the winter blues or just sick to death of cleaning house for people who mess it up as soon as I am done?  So, anyway I am just laying this out there for all of you to comment on.  I am looking forward to your comments.  Please don't suggest that I see a counselor, I am just venting via blog!

Nat, I checked the dictionary for the word "deliberate" and here is what it said: DELIBERATE: leisurely and steady in movement or action; slow and even; unhurried. I think the dude was saying: "Take the time to smell the roses.. enjoy every moment of every day.. dont rush through the day, ignoring the sunset" In other words.. leave the damn dirty laundry, and the messy house, and go out and enjoy the day! (maybe I'm putting more of my own thoughts into that.. but Hey, it works!) I agree with you though.. my house was never dirty when I lived alone! :) Love the new back ground by the way; where did you find it?

Thanks Natilie for summing up my day, as I DELIBERATELY put the kids to bed!

A synonym for deliberate is "Purposeful." So maybe he means we should live each day with a purpose...

Hey, when you have another one of these days and give me call... We'll take a diet pepsi/coke run and let the kids play at the park... Then they can't mess up the clean house.

I think we are all getting Spring Fever.. I am for sure. I want to start working on my yard, and enjoying the sun, and it sucks 'cause it's not quite warm enough.

I think it is very hard to do - my favorite quote lately is on my blog - Life isn't about waiting for the storm (or day) to pass, it is about learning to dance in the rain (just enjoying the day) - even if it's laundry, scrubbing toilets and cooking - I struggle everyday - but at the end of the day, i wouldn't change my life. :)
