Dating.....

So there I was, laying in bed next to my recently returned husband thinking how happy I was that he was home.  I had a great nights sleep and was pondering on the magnificence of my slumber and how it was due directly to my husband.  The kids came running in and asked him what sort of amazing souvenirs he had brought them from his "business trip" in Mississippi.  He regaled us with stories of the bayou and told us that Farmer Fran was his taxi driver as he removed the trinkets from his bag.  The kids gathered around with glimmers of anticipation in their eyes.  The tension was palpable and the kids stood on their toes trying to catch a glimpse of what he had brought them from across the Mississippi.  One by one Reed removed (gasp!) a small box of soap, a vial of lotion, and a matching shampoo and conditioner (Crabtree and Evelyn, nonetheless).  But wait, that is not all.  Reed also pulled out three matching pens, and they are cool pens, and handed one to each of our offspring.  The grins which spread across their faces at that moment were priceless.  They expressed their excitement about the pens, put them in their pockets to show the kids at school, and then one by one they pulled their dad aside and thanked him for his generosity. He was beaming, they were beaming, and everyone was content, except for me because I was wondering where my shower cap was.  I mean really. Anyway, I digress.  After these events my husband leans over to me and says with that husky tone in his voice "What do you want to do tonight?"  I was confused.  I had no idea what he meant.  So I said, "What do you mean?"  He asked if I wanted to go out.  Like on a date.  Maybe now is a good time to state that our last date was on January 19, and that our date previous to that one was the previous January 19.  So you can imagine my shock when the question was posed, and I am not going to lie to you, I thought he was playing a joke on me.  He was not, he was as serious as can be.  Readers, tonight I went on a date.  I was escorted by my husband to the American Fork Cinemark where we enjoyed a one hour and forty minute movie.  I enjoyed popcorn and a lemonade and the movie.  I also enjoyed my husband.  So tonight I will say that I LOVE DATING, and not just anybody.  I love dating my husband.  I forgot how fun it was.  If those of you reading this do not date your husbands I suggest you give it a try.  It is a great time, and should be attempted at least twice a year.  Best of luck to you all!  Love - me.

I'll tell you what, I am disappointed. It may not have been a plastic shower cap from the Hilton I might add, but this is the last time I spend $3.99 of cold hard cash on an exquisite porcelain thimble for my bride. I mean I spent a good minute and a half on what I thought would be the "perfect gift." There are a lot of hurtful things out there, but when you try so hard to bring home "thoughtful" gifts and your feelings are literally crushed.

The only way I could make the hurt go away was to treat myself to a movie.

I love reading your post. It always makes me laugh.
The souvenirs were awesome. Sounds like something that Mike would of brought home.
I am glad you had fun on your date. What movie did you go to?

This is classic! My husband was glad to see that he wasn't the only one who brought such cherished gifts to his children. Only his are usually purchased AFTER he gets home. Suprise! Glad you went on a date. I love going out too.
