Monday Musings....

1.  I am sick of dogs pooping on my lawn.  I was mowing the lawn and every ten feet I ran into feces.  I know that it is not Copper because she goes in her kennel.  I mow over it.  I am not going to scoop poop.  I know at one point we were the empty lot and everyone relieved themselves in our yard, but people, dogs, enough is enough.
2.  I always get the man.  I went and got my pedicure today and I got the man - again.  I have never had the woman.  It is awkward enough having someone touch your feet, but a MAN?!?!?  The worst part was the whole time he was speaking Chinese.  I didn't know what he was saying.  All I could imagine was that he was making fun of my man feet or swearing at me the whole time.  Weird.
3.  Making homemade jam may be a small task, but to three inexperienced kids it is monumental.  Taylor hulled, Torey sliced, and Jake mashed and they argued over whose job was the most important.  Duh, it was mine.  I bought the dumb things.  And they are delicious.

4.  I miss the dishwasher.  Enough said.
5.  I mowed and weeded today so I checked that off the list and let me just say how relieved I am to have a nicely groomed yard.  (Except the mohawk by the sidewalk that the mower won't reach.  Dumb mower).  I ran across this loveliness while doing my work.  It is a new addition from last year, though it bloomed for the first time this year.  I will buy more because it has exceeded my expectations.  For those of you wondering it is a "basket of gold."
6.  Alas, after waiting eight long years I finally am the proud owner of a blooming "Oriental Peony."  Some of you may wonder if it takes eight years to bloom and my answer is No.  It takes eight years to break my Grandpa down enough that he will give me a start.  Now, he is not a cruel man, he is just a fantastic gardner and I never asked in August.  That is when you can get a start.  Not a day before.  You can after August, but August is the optimal time.  And behold the loveliness, I am so glad I remembered to ask, in August, this time.  Notice the delicate foliage.  This is what sets it apart from its peony cousins.  You also do not trim this peony in the fall.  That is why I didn't have blooms last time, simpleton. (Me not you).  Enjoy the picture, more peony pictures to come.  You should all see my tree peony, now that is pure loveliness.  I love, love, love peonies and all poowah flowers such as peonies, hydrangeas, roses - you know they go poowah - and they are kind of grandma type flowers.  Anyway, now I am rambling so I will go.

I do believe my oriental peony is about to bloom. I think that is what it is, the foliage looks the same. I think that is what I got when Colton was mowing his lawn. I will let you know when it opens. Way to go kids.

We must be on the same page. Jam, laundry, weeding... Love the peony.

That made me laugh. I mowed my lawn and our neighbors dog always comes over to our house and poops. It drives me crazy. I was so mad yesterday.

Yummy homemade jam. You are always doing something. I loved the picture of the kids helping. They are so cute.

Where do you find time for all this!? And... I must come take a gander at all your flowers, I'm getting the urge to plant.. but I'm clueless, a simpleton if you will.

I love the pictures of the flowers--I am longing to have a garden again. I even helped Caroline weed the other day--now THAT is desperation, isnt' it?
