It never fails. Whenever you are trying to do something for the betterment of your home something happens to mess it all up. So there I am, in the middle of the "If we die clean," and I am vacuuming under my piano. I pick up the bench to put it back under said piano and the corner of the bench rams into the piano leaving a big, ugly, glaring dent which is just looking at me and making me sick. Sick, sick, sick. I am sick about this dent. My lovely piano now has a hideous scar. I am just looking at it and getting sicker. This dent is the size of a penny and right in the middle of my piano. I would post a picture but I am too sick about it to look at it. So, I call the piano shop and get a number for a guy named Jason. Sure, he can fix it, he does it for a living. He is one of two guys in the state who do it. The whole state, I state. Yes, the whole state. The cha-ching sound just went off in my head, did it in yours? So I ask Jason how much. It will take two, maybe three trips to fix and it will cost between $150 to $200.
(GASP!) So here I sit, being sick about it, and wondering if I can ever in my life spend that money on a penny sized dent which has burned itself into my retinas and is looking at me even now. I really, really want to but I am agonizing over it. That is a lot of money for a dent, which I caused, accidentally. Oh, I am sick. What would you do? Men - chime in on this. Would you freak out if your wife spent that money fixing a dent which is making her sick, sick, sick?
In other news my friend just gave birth to her fourth baby boy, name unknown at present. She had it natural, though not of her choice. So I just wanted to send her a cyber trophy and let her know I think she is one tough cookie and I am not sorry I can never join the "I had it natural club."
Also, only a few more days before the hero and I take our three cherubs to the land of the fun and the sun and the Happiest Place on Earth. Can't wait. So excited. I am on pins and needles, not handling the excitement of being with the hero for an entire week with no pager and no one to bug us, except of course, the cherubs. But we love them so it's okay. If anyone sees our dog running amuck while we are gone please take care of her, she has tried really hard to escape and deserves a reward for her efforts.

So glad to have read one last post before we leave on vacation. Not, quite as lovely place as where you are headed, but lovely in it's own right (at least in my heart!) So, happy traveling, and I'm so sorry for your piano. I don't even know what to tell you. On the one hand I say, ponder about it for the week. But, then I wouldn't want it to fester. Hmmm.... sorry no help. Good luck.
Also, realizing that I did not have acrylic stamp blocks did not stop me from going and getting some. Sometimes, I will have carried something around the store for a long time and end up not getting them, and think that I have and then go looking. It's ok, I'm EXCITED to put it to use!
The long and short of this: Have a great Spring Break!
its a dent... is this piano a heirloom? if it isn't... i say let it add add a little character to your otherwise perfect piano.
I agree with Haley! I stressed so much about dents on my kitchen table to the point of freaking out whenever the kids sat there.. but now I realize - it's furniture. It's going to get dented. It's not an heirloom, so forget about it.
Skip Livingston (Livingston Piano Services) refinishes and restores pianos. Skip is a customer of mine at JP&G, and tunes our piano at home. He could certainly fix it, but don't know that the price would be any better. He lives in American Fork. If you are interested, I can give you his phone number. -Ryan-
unfortunately I agree with the whole furniture will get dented philosophy, but it is not easy, because I get very ill when things happen to my furniture as well, but I've been down the fixing road and it never fails that you fix it and then something else happens and you've already invested in "fixing" and so you have to fix again and again it's a terrible road.
I still say try the marker- Minwax has a mahogany one for $8. It will cover up the unfinished wood so you won't notice it every time you walk by (remember I didn't even notice it). Then you will have it on hand just in case it gets another ding. Just in case.
Oh, and I hope you guys are having a great week at the Happiest Place on Earth!
