Thankful Thursday..

This last week my sweet little Torey came home from activity days with a special project.  Her class had crafted gecko's from pony beads for the children in Iraq and other countries across the world.  She wanted to do more so we headed to Robert's Craft in search of a Family Home Evening project.

After a few attempts and some pointers from Torey we were able to craft various animals in different colors.  Torey and Taylor did great, although Taylor was a little put out that her little sis could teach her a thing or to.  I thought it was hilarious.  Jake helped me to string the beads and stood by to offer assistance and tell the girls we were beating them.
So out of this project came many things I am thankful for:

1.  I am thankful for good Church Leaders who take the time to teach my children.
2.  I am thankful for sweet Torey and the patience she showed while teaching us a new skill, and also for her motivation to serve others.
3.  I am thankful that my children are willing to learn new things and that they work well together.
4.  I am thankful for a project that serves others and that is also fun.  It makes it a lot easier to teach little kids when the project also has an element of fun.
5.  I am especially grateful that my children will never have to trade these geckos for food.  Apparently the kids trade these little animals for food to eat.  Even when we claim "there is nothing to eat" we can always find something.  I wonder how much food they will buy?
6.  Also thankful for the great conference activity they will provide.  It will help General Conference to go so much smoother.

They are such a simple little thing, these geckos and skunks,  and yet they can bring so much happiness and I am grateful that my kids can have a share in that happiness.  I have a feeling we will be producing these for a while.

The gecko's look awesome. Torey is such sweetheart. I can't wait for your girls to be old enough to tend my boys. They are such great examples. ( and cute Jake too)

I love a great project to work on during general conference. These are perfect--fun and beneficial all at the same time.

Could you please post a video how-to so we could all keep our kids entertained through conference? Thanks. I would say we have excellent taste in tables! and those pink and black pillowcases were for my niece Markelle (melissa's daughter) her room is going to be pink and black, I will have to show pictures when it's done!

I love the picture of the beads in the dishes... Don't me why I would be drawn to those instead of the geckos, although they are really cute. I should have Torey come and give us a little lesson. She is really sweet. Love that she says hi to me whenever I see her.

Those are really cool! Taylor looked great as a witch too! And, I am so jealous that your bathrooms are clean (even if for only 15 min) - I will work on mine today.
